For toilet-trained children, we evaluate bladder volume:
- Pre-void bladder volume: scanning while your child has a full bladder

- Calculating the residual urine volume to identify incomplete bladder emptying
Fasting & Bladder Filling Required
- Fasting: Children should avoid eating for 3 hours prior to the scan (water is allowed).
- Full Bladder: Toilet-trained children should drink 200ml-400ml of water 45 minutes before the scan and try not to pass urine before the appointment.
- Toilet Break: During the scan, the radiologist will pause to let your child empty their bladder, then complete the scan immediately after.
