What does a consultant radiologist do?
A consultant radiologist is a medical doctor who has undergone specialized training in clinical imaging. They perform ultrasound scans in real-time, interpret other scans (like X-rays, mammograms, and DEXA scans), perform image-guided procedures (like biopsies and joint injections), and write the formal diagnostic reports used by your GP or specialist.
Do I receive my radiology results immediately?
Yes, for ultrasound scans. The consultant radiologist performs the ultrasound scan in real-time and will explain the findings to you during the appointment. A detailed formal written report is also prepared and emailed to you (and your doctor, if referred) on the same day as your visit.
Do your radiologists perform guided therapeutic procedures?
Yes, our radiologists specialize in interventional procedures. This includes ultrasound-guided joint and soft-tissue injections, steroid injections for pain relief, fine-needle aspirations, and core biopsies for breast assessment.
