Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about prenatal screening, scan windows, and NIPT.
At what week of pregnancy can I have an early viability scan?
An early pregnancy viability scan (often called a dating scan) is typically performed from 8 to 10 weeks of pregnancy onwards to confirm the pregnancy, check the baby's heartbeat, and determine the estimated due date.
What is NIPT (Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing) and when is it done?
NIPT is a highly accurate blood screening test for chromosomal conditions (such as Down's syndrome) that analyzes cell-free DNA from the placenta in the mother's blood. It can be performed from 11 weeks of pregnancy onwards, accompanied by an ultrasound assessment.
At what stage will I have the post-partum/natal check up?
Our post-partum (post-natal) check-up is usually carried out around 6-8 weeks after delivery. This appointment allows your doctor to check how your body is recovering after childbirth and discuss any symptoms or concerns.
