Comprehensive Combined Paediatric Screening
Some symptoms in young boys warrant a multi-system check. For example, persistent groin swelling or an undescended testicle may be associated with abdominal wall weaknesses or renal anomalies. This combined ultrasound checks the complete abdominal cavity (including liver, kidneys, and spleen) alongside the testicular/scrotal organs in a single visit.

We assess the size, structure, and position of the tummy organs:
- Liver, Gallbladder, Pancreas, and Spleen structures
- Kidneys and Urinary Bladder (checking for fluid backing up or cysts)
- Screening the appendix area and abdominal wall for weaknesses

Scrotal Assessment
We examine the reproductive organs and inguinal canals:
- Locating undescended testicles and checking bilateral volume
- Evaluating hydroceles (fluid in scrotum) and groin/scrotal hernias
- Checking the inguinal canals for abnormal tissue or fluid collections
Fasting Required (Age Dependent)
- Fasting (Under 2 years): Skip one feed or avoid feeding for 2 hours before the scan.
- Fasting (2 to 10 years): No food for 3 hours prior to the scan (plain water is allowed).
- Fasting (10+ years): No food for 4 hours before the appointment. If toilet-trained, drink 1-2 glasses of water 45 minutes prior and do not empty bladder.
- Duration: The combined scan takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes.
